The first provincial football association formed in Canada was the British Columbia Football Association in 1891, followed by others, leading to the establishment of a national governing body. On July 24, 1912, the "Dominion of Canada Football Association" was founded at a meeting in Toronto, with provincial associations from Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, and Alberta in attendance. This body is now known as the Canadian Soccer Association and became a member of FIFA on December 31, 1912.
